Midnight Mass and Easter Party

Late Saturday evening the group went to midnight mass with the candles they had prepared earlier. There was a big bonfire outside the church and there were lots of firecrackers!

At midnight the Priest lit a candle.  People nearest the priest then lit their own candle from his, then lit their neighbours' candle, and so on until we were all holding burning candles.  We then went outside the church and stood in a tight crush of bodies listening to the service over the loundspeakers.

The group then returned to the hotel to have the Easter Party.  As tradition dictates, Avgolemono soup was served, which is made from eggs and lemons in chicken stock.
